Cotton Rope Homemade Baskets

Woven by Marta Bunnett Wiebe, these three baskets nest inside one another, such that the smaller two fit flush within the largest one. The height of the biggest basket is 7.6 cm and its diameter is 19.75 cm. Location Winnipeg, MB.

“One of my creative endeavors and centering practices is to sew rope baskets. I love pairing colours and form to create simple, elegant, and practical pieces. In creating this set of baskets for the CFOS auction, I chose to incorporate the bold dark green colour as a nod to the land of Palestine and its olive trees. My prayer is that it might be a reminder of the persistence of life amid destruction, and an encouragement to continue to work for justice and peace.” – Marta Bunnett Wiebe, maker and donor
