Olive Wood Candle Holders from Bethlehem

This set of two candle holders was donated by Esther and Dan Epp-Tiessen. Each holder measures 6.5 cm at its widest point and 18.5 cm at its tallest. Location Winnipeg, MB.

Esther writes, “The items I donated to the CFOS Art Auction are special to me because I love olive wood, from which these items are made. Olive trees are so precious to Palestinians because they provide desperately needed income and because they symbolize steadfastness (sumud), peaceful living, and rootedness in the land. I purchased the candleholders in Bethlehem about a decade ago, because I loved the way the unique pattern of the olive wood grain was exposed through the carving.
