“Hi, I’m Sven, a cartoonist and illustrator from Toronto! The piece I’ve included for auction is a one-of-a-kind, custom print of your choice of art from my Imago Palestina project. Imago Palestina: An illustrated word of introduction to our neighbours in Palestine, includes almost 100 portraits of our Palestinian neighbours (as well as other non-portrait illustrations) and if you purchase this piece, you will be invited to choose any of these artworks (or a collage of a few of them) to receive as a high-quality 11”x17” framed print. The print will also be accompanied by five copies of the most recent issue of Imago Palestina Magazine, for you or anyone else would like to meet their Palestinian neighbours.

“The piece I donated is special to me because it’s a testament to how many people actually do care—and care deeply—about their Palestinian neighbours. It’ll be the only print of its kind in the whole world, and it’ll only exist because you cared enough to purchase it, I cared enough to draw these beautiful faces, CFOS cared enough to connect so many of us through their advocacy, and untold multitudes of people cared enough that it woke up people like me who couldn’t even find Palestine on a map a few years ago. It’s very easy to feel isolated or small when we’re up against the Goliaths of colonialism and imperialism, but I think we can see the marks of care everywhere if we have the courage and creativity to look for them. Enough people cared enough to recognize and record the image of God found in each of our Palestinian neighbours, in actions big and small, everyday, everywhere.

I hope that this support will help CFOS to continue its work of connecting, resourcing, and empowering Canadian Christians to see the dignity of their Palestinian neighbours—and the way that it has been eroded—and act courageously for liberation. So many of us here feel so far removed from Palestine—by distance, language, culture, and in many cases concrete.
