Kairos Palestine marks one thousand days of genocide
Kairos Palestine has issued a new statement, “One Thousand Days of Genocide: A Kairos Moment for the World.” This statement calls not only on governments to maintain international law and end complicity but also on churches to “to move beyond statements of concern and take concrete creative nonviolent actions to hold governments, companies, and Christian organizations accountable.” After one thousand days of Israel’s relentless killing, starvation, displacement, and destruction, let this statement move us towards action in solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle for life, dignity, and liberation. Join Canadian Friends of Sabeel (CFOS) on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM ET for a webinar about our "Come and See, Go and Tell" initiative. In partnership with Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center in Jerusalem, this initiative invites Canadians aged 18+ to visit Palestine/Israel for 10-day visits to meet and learn from Palestinians and Israelis working for human rights, international law and a just peace.
At this information session, you will hear firsthand accounts from persons recently returned from a "Come and See, Go and Tell" visit and learn about upcoming delegation opportunities to Palestine/Israel. Whether you are an artist, writer, musician, clergy, Indigenous leader, advocate – or simply someone who is eager to listen, learn and bear witness – please attend!

CFOS supports open letter demanding action on Beit Sahour
Leaders of Canadian churches and church agencies have written to the Hon. Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, requesting an urgent meeting concerning illegal Israeli settlement expansion in Beit Sahour, Bethlehem.
The June 24 letter responds to a renewed appeal from Laith Hazim Qumsiyeh, Mayor of Beit Sahour, warning that the new Shadma Yitziv settlement at Ush Ghurab is threatening one of the largest remaining Christian communities in Palestine. CFOS Chair Rula Odeh has signed the letter, which urges Canada to take immediate action to compel Israel to dismantle and remove the settlements.

Stand Up for Palestinian Children
In a May 12 report, UNICEF described the price being paid by Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem amid escalating Israeli military operations and settler attacks as “intolerable.” The report notes that from January 2025 to May 2026, at least one Palestinian child was killed each week on average. Moreover, the number of Palestinian children held in Israeli military detention for alleged security offences reached its highest level in eight years, while children throughout the West Bank and East Jerusalem were routinely cut off from schools, hospitals, and other essential services.
Petition e-7580 calls on the Government of Canada to protect the lives, dignity, and human rights of Palestinian children by:
banning all direct and indirect arms trade with Israel;
suspending the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement;
sanctioning Israeli officials who promote violence against Palestinians or the seizure of Palestinian land; and
prohibiting Canadian residents and corporations from bidding on contracts for work within illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Support the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and its curatorial independence
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights has opened “Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present,” a long-awaited exploration of the ongoing forced displacement of Palestinians. The exhibition is scheduled to remain at the Museum’s Winnipeg site from June 27, 2026, to November 30, 2028.
Since its opening in June, the Museum and its leadership have faced organized campaigns demanding political intervention, public condemnation, and institutional consequences. Especially alarming are the comments of Heritage Minister Marc Miller, who alleges that the exhibit contains “errors” that “must be rectified.” In light of this backlash, CFOS has supported an open letter calling on the Museum to remain steadfast in its commitment to independent, evidence-based curation. Church of England Synod Votes to Hear Palestinian Christian Testimony
On Monday, July 13 the General Synod voted in York to hear the testimony of Christian Palestinians. The motion, titled the Carliske motion, recognizes Kairos Palestine II: A Moment of Truth—Faith in a Time of Genocide, alongside other Palestinian Christian statements, as testimony of Palestinian Christians’ lived experiences. First published in 2025, Kairos Palestine II was co-written by the Reverend Fadi Diab, Rector of St Andrew’s Church in Ramallah, who attended the Synod.
Canadian Friends of Sabeel congratulates Sabeel-Kairos UK, who has undertaken the hard work of advocating for the Carlisle motion for the past five years despite pressure from different Zionist groups. We hope that hearing Palestinian Christian testimony is the first step towards concrete solidarity and action for the Church of England and other faith organizations.
