Solidarity Evening & Art Auction Postponed
Dear Friends,
When we set our online Solidarity Evening & Art Auction.date for May 3, we didn't realize we would be distracted by a federal election and the death of Pope Francis immediately preceding, on top of Easter, spring and tax deadlines all around the same time... To give everyone a chance to view and bid on our amazing art pieces, we are postponing. Stay tuned for a new date to be announced soon.
In the meantime, we invite you to join us in solidarity at the Call for Repentance Conference happening in Ottawa, May 28-30. CFOS will be participating and presenting.
Information — Call for Repentance Conference
This conference will offer a setting to critique colonialism’s abiding presence – in Canada, Palestine, and beyond. In the spirit of repentance, this conference intends to strengthen ecumenical and interfaith solidarity through the discussion of strategic theological and political interventions that promote a lasting peace and justice in Palestine.

Join us for a special Canadian Friends of Sabeel event to raise funds for our ongoing work of solidarity with our Palestinian siblings, and to offer music, poetry, prayers and reflections on personal experiences of solidarity.
What are the details?
By April 16. Anyone is invited to contribute art pieces or handicrafts from Palestine. We also invite art created by Palestinian artists and Canadian allies in the spirit of solidarity. Please send a photo, along with weight and dimensions of the art piece, as well as its current location, to info@friendsofsabeel.ca.
By April 22. The auction will be opened for online bidding. For instructions and bidding registration, go here.
On Friday, May 2, 7-8 PM Eastern Time. CFOS will host a pre-auction meeting for those who would like help with online bidding. If you would like a link to this meeting, please send a message to info@friendsofsabeel.ca.
On Saturday, May 3, 7-8:30 PM Eastern Time. CFOS will host the Solidarity Evening and Art Auction. Please register in advance here. This evening will include music, poetry, prayers and reflections, as well as the auction itself. Bidding will close at the end of the event. Bring your friends!
What about payment and shipping?
Beginning on Tuesday, May 6. After the event, winning bidders will be contacted by CFOS with instructions on paying for the art through CFOS’s Canada Helps account. A taxable receipt will be issued for any amount exceeding 25% of the value of the art item.
CFOS will pay for any shipping if that is required, unless the purchaser or the donor chooses to donate the shipping costs. Bidders may wish to bid on items that are available in their community, so that a simple pick-up may be arranged.
